Wyoming parenting class requirement
Only if your judge orders it
Wyoming has no statewide parenting education mandate. W.S. 20-2-201(f) says the court "may require parents to attend appropriate parenting classes", and that one sentence is the only parent education provision in the whole of Title 20. The Uniform Rules for District Courts do not mention it, and no judicial district publishes local rules. So whether you must take a class depends on your judge. Two districts are known to require one by standing order, including the Third. Wyoming has no approved provider list and no agency that certifies providers, so no course can be called state approved here. That cuts both ways in your favour: the Third Judicial District’s own standing order points parents at out of state, self paced, online classes. Wyoming also has no statewide child abuse reporting hotline. W.S. 14-3-206(b) permits the state to run a 24 hour toll free reporting centre and it has not established one, so reports go to your county Department of Family Services field office or to local law enforcement. If you are ordered to take one, file the Certificate of Completion with the Clerk.
